American Counseling Association
The ACA proudly presents the 2015 conference in Orlando from March 11-15. Depending on certain criteria, you can attend for as little as $316 through a membership, or $440 without a membership. For all who are attending for the first time, there is a New Timer’s Orientation and Reception. Other events include ACA Opening Night Ceremony (Friday, March 13 at 8 P.M.), International Reception (Friday, March 13 at 6:30 P.M.), and ACA’s Got Talent (Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 P.M.). The benefits of attending this counseling conference are the continuing education credits (you get up to 35 continuing education hours) plus you can learn from the greats in the counseling world today!
American School Counselors Association
June 28 through July 1, 2015, in Phoenix, AZ, you can attend the American School Counselor’s Association conference for counselors. The ASCA has not scheduled any events or classes yet, but you can check their website for any news regarding the Phoenix conference event. All school counselors are welcome to attend to learn more about student mental and physical health as well as how to guide them on the right path to get them where they want to go. People in other professions and disciplines are welcome as well to round out their knowledge of the world. Keep the date in mind so you can register as early as possible.
American Mental Health Counselors Association
The American mental Health Counselors Association is holding a conference July 9-11 in Philadelphia, PA. This conference will have events like the Welcome Reception, and classes like Counseling in Turkey: Ethical Issues. Most classes last anywhere between an hour and three hours, and you can benefit greatly from each one! Each day of the conference has a one hour block in the morning specifically for networking, so for those of you trying to get ahead in the work world or just want to make new friends, this is the time to do it! Remember, the earlier you register, the lower your ticket price will be!
American College Counseling Association
This year in Louisville, KY, the American College Counseling Association is holding a conference on October 1-4. The ACCA will have events and classes for all types of counselors. Many of the class topics will include multicultural issues, leadership skills, and more. The best part is that most classes count toward continuing education credit hours for professionals and as regular credit hours for those getting their degrees. There will even be classes that help build your leadership skills and help you meet others within your profession, whether it is social work, psychology or professional counseling. Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation
The Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation is holding their annual conference on October 16-18. This year it will be in Virginia Beach, VA. You can register to attend for as low as $125. The events are not yet scheduled, but from experience, you can see plenty of guest speakers and professionals in the counseling field. The best part of this conference is that it is for regular people as well. You do not have to be a professional counselor or getting your degree to attend! If you are looking for a new career in the counseling profession, this may be the way to go!
National Society of Genetic Counselors
October 21-24, 2015, the National Society of Genetic Counselors will have their annual conference in Pittsburgh, PA. In past events, there were guest speakers like Elyse Fitzpatrick and Heath Lambert, both professionals in the counseling field. The CCEF has yet to schedule any events for this conference, but you can expect a large number of guest speakers who range from pastors to authors to professors! Last year’s conference saw events like Partners in Suffering and Comfort, and Speaking Our Losses and Finding Refuge. You can go to the CCEF.org website to find updated information as it comes in! Remember to register as soon as you can so you can get the discounted prices for registering early!
Association for Creativity in Counseling
The Association for Creativity in Counseling will be held from April 10 to April 11 in San Antonio, Texas. This year they have a full schedule lasting practically from sun up to sun down! With only two days to show everyone what they have got, the ACC will definitely have only the best packed in for their attendees. You can still register to join the conference, and registering as soon as you can will guarantee you a spot in the conference. There are plenty of hotels nearby to board up in for the night, you can even stay in the hotel hosting the event, the DoubleTree by Hilton.
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is holding their annual conference at Austin, TX, on September 3-6. This year, they will have Morris Dees, John Bul Dau, and Dr. Frank Dattilio as the keynote presenters. You can begin registering to attend as early as Spring 2015. Every year, the conference allows up to 24 credit hours for those pursuing continuing education courses. You can even network with others in your profession at different times during the conference. National Conference on Innovative Counseling Skills and Strategies
From June 29th to July 1st, 2015, the National Conference on Innovative Counseling Skills and Strategies will be held in Atlanta, GA. This year’s conference will showcase Carol McCloud, Trevor Romain, and Joree Rosenblatt as the main speakers for the three day event. There will also be pre-conference events that you can register for up until each one is filled. You can qualify for 23 credit hours for continuing education, which also includes the pre-conference events. Events run from 7:30 in the morning until 4 every afternoon, so there are plenty of options available for you to pick and choose from.
Association for Play Therapy
The Association for Play Therapy is holding their annual conference from October 6-11 in Atlanta, GA. Currently, there is no information regarding the events and classes taking place, but you can check their website for more information as it becomes available. This five day event is sure to be jam packed with classes and events and guest speakers all there to help you to better view children through play therapy and update your knowledge with new findings. Past conferences have seen speakers like Elyse Fitzpatrick, so you know the lineup for this year is going to be great. American Group Psychotherapy Association
The American Group Psychotherapy Association is holding a whopping six day conference from February 23-28 in San Francisco, CA. This conference will have one day, two day, and three day prices available if you cannot or do not want to attend the whole event. You can earn continuing education credit hours or you can just update your knowledge with the newest findings available! It costs as little as $90 to attend events at the conference. The list of guest speakers includes Elliot Zeisel and Anne and Ramon Alonso. Some of the classes available are Attachment in Group Psychotherapy: Bridging Theory and Empirical Findings to Clinical Practice and Daring Our Truth: Authentic Relating in Group Psychotherapy. There are even full day workshops to choose from.
American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists
The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists is holding their annual conference from June 3-7 in Minneapolis, MN. This year, the events have not been scheduled, yet, but you can check the AASECT.org website for updates as they are added. This four day event will have plenty of classes for you to attend and gain experience for continued educational requirements. These classes will also give you experience for your everyday life in the office! Not only that, you can connect with others across the United States who do exactly what you do!
